Commercial Enquiry Service
BIS operates as a not-for-profit organisation and does not charge for data that is passed on to commercial users however we do reserve the right to pass on the cost of collating, analysing and reporting on the data.
All requests for information must be accompanied by a completed and signed Data Enquiry Release Form (DERF) PDF-DERF WORD-DERF as a condition of release of data to include sensitive species information. On the DERF tick which information you require and include a map or grid reference of the site. Site data received in GIS format will speed up the response time.
A standard product is:
- A GIS plot showing the area of search; locations of records of Priority Species, Species of Conservation. Concern and Locally Important species recorded within the search buffer, and indicative boundaries of all designated sites (national and local) falling within the search buffer.
- A report providing details of all species records of relevance to the search area.
- A GIS plot showing the relevant extract from the CCW Phase One Habitat Survey data.
The final report can be returned in paper format or electronically as pdf files.
The charge for searching our database and producing the above reports and GIS plots are calculated by the time taken at £90 + VAT for the first hour and £65 + VAT for consecutive hours. Once we have received the application we will give an estimate of the cost and ask for permission to proceed. BIS aims to complete the enquiry within 10 working days but is usually sooner.
Invoices will usually be sent out with the completed report and the payment conditions are 28 days. Please let us know of any particular invoice requirements, order numbers etc. to help speed up payment.
