Welcome to the website of the Biodiversity Information Service for Powys and Brecon Beacons National Park (BIS). Through this website we aim keep you up to date on the activities and work of BIS, including information on our services, data holdings, and eventually access to search the BIS database. It will act as local biological recording resource with news of local wildlife recording activities and linking to local and national recording websites. Please contact us if you have any comments or features you would like to see.

We have moved the web site to a new server at our ISP and finished installing the content management system (CMS). This allows us to offer facilities to recorders such as blogs, forums and web applications. We would like to build a community of recorders on this site so that we can all exchange local knowledge and help.

Our other server, based in one of London's Dockland data centres, hosts a database which will feed this site with biological data and mapping. This work is scheduled in the last phase of our workplan for 2008.
